This tour begins with a boat ride on the
Lagoon of Tres Palos which means While aboard you will admire the abundant
vegetation, native wildlife and the Acapulco is home to many species of
aquatic birds and marine animals. Next, we will take a break at a poolside
restaurant on the beach. Our next visit is the Sea Turtle Sanctuary. A presentation will be given explaining the reproductive cycle of endangered turtles and why they are so important to the ecology of our planet. Depending on the time of year and the age of the current hatchlings you might have the chance to release an endangered hatchling to the sea ensuring the continued existence of these remarkable animals. It is a fact that without the continued protection of Sea Turtles, most species will become extinct in a short period of time. While it seems Mexico efforts to save the Olive Ridley are helping the species, other countries are decimating them in great numbers. The eggs are collected and eaten and the turtles themselves are even eaten in Asian Countries. Over time it is taking the release of hundreds of thousands of turtles to make a very small impact. The math is simple 10 of 10,000 hatchlings will make it to maturity and they do not breed until they are 15+ years of age. In Mexico, 17 reserve areas were established for the protection of sea turtles in 1986, and a total prohibition on sea turtle harvest was instituted and additional protection camps were established on nesting beaches in 1990. Sea Turtles are enormously important to the environment. Intersol Tours Donates to the noble cause of Sea Turtle conservation and it is made possible by your attendance. We hope you will attend. Don't forget to bring a towel, camera and sun block. |
